Now that my kitchen cabinets have arrived, I need them installed STAT!! Originally, I was going to have my contractors install the cabinets since Home Depot's installation price was absurd, HOWEVER, we're running a little behind and I need things to get rolling. SOOOOOO, I met up with Cesar from Home Depot and we set up a time for them to install the cabinets. The good thing about Home Depot is that they always have deals and incentives going on. Lucky for me, they were running a 10% off installation promotion.
Here is the plan:
Day 1 - Cabinet Inspection
Day 2 - Start Cabinet Install
Day 3 - Finish Cabinet Install
I LOVE THIS SCHEDULE!
The first thing Home Depot does is come over and open all the boxes to make sure everything is peachy. Okay, story of my life, everything wasn't exactly peachy........ One cabinet was a little damaged AND I ordered 3 extra pieces of moulding. Not a big deal. The cabinet is a little busted but not visible and doesn't affect the function. The microwave is going right under this so no one will ever know.
The mouldings *sigh* are a minor inconvenience. Normally, a piece of moulding runs around $1.50-$2.50 a linear foot. But the Martha Stewart crown moulding I ordered that goes with the kitchen cabinets are roughly $80 a piece. I found out that these were ordered in error (Home Depot's fault) so they're letting me return them *whew*. But dude, they're over 8 feet long, how the bleep am I going to return them?? That'll be a fun car ride ON THE FREEWAY!! See, minor inconvenience.
Anyhoo, 2 days of craziness later..................
THIS...
TURNED INTO THIS!!!!
It's already so light and airy. IT'S NOT EVEN FINISHED YET!!
But here are some cool little details:
Base corner cabinet solution: instead of a lazy Susan (which is super annoying and a space waster), I opted for strategically placed shelves so that I can reach every nook and cranny with ease.
Upper corner cabinet solution: open shelving for easy access and maximum storage.
Before (left) After (right)......nuff said.
World's tiniest drawer in between glass door cabinets and appliance cabinet.
A drawer within a drawer (left) a secret toekick drawer for more storage (right)
Pull out mini pantry (left) tiered cutlery divider (right)
Now that all the cabinets are in place, I need to give Aegean Stoneworks a ring to come do the measurements for the countertops :).
