#14 - Walls and Floors!!

Now that mostly everything is all patched up, we are ready for paint and carpet :).  This is going to change the look of the whole place in an instant!

*Side note*
So....................................I've learned that nothing ever goes as planned.  I've even learned to deal with all the obstacles that come my way. HOWEVER, I was definitely blind-sighted with this carpet install!!  I mean, there isn't much that could go wrong with carpeting.  We're not dealing with any plumbing or electrical work.  It can't break or "not work".  What could possibly go wrong??

First of all....

YES!!  It was raining the day of the carpet install!!!!!

The carpet installers and my contractors informed me that carpet CANNOT go in wet or be cut on a wet surface.  However, this was the ONLY day I could get this done.  So basically, I had a 3 hour window of no rain according to the forecast.  Since I wasn't at the site, the only thing I could do was pray that I wasn't going to get that dreaded phone call, "um, unfortunately we were unable to finish the carpet due to the rain"

Luckily, the whole day went by and NO phone call, YAY!!

While I was at work, I was itching to get outta there to go check out my new flooring.  I was super excited.  When 5 o'clock finally rolled around, I took off like a torpedo.  I finally get home and lo and behold.....

...............................................................

IT'S THE WRONG CARPET!! Grrrrrrrrr >:o!

Instead of this:

Martha Stewart - Winterthur in Sharkey Gray

I got this:

Martha Stewart - Wilderstein in Sharkey Gray

I call Home Depot, all they say is that since both carpets cost the same, they really can't do anything about it.  *SO ANGRY!!*

Whatever, good thing I actually like the carpet that they brought.  I'm just really bummed I don't get my diamond pattern carpet.  I was actually more curious about how it was going to look.

Anyway, complications aside, here what the place looks like now, PAINTED AND CARPETED :).

At the end of the day, I am VERY happy with everything.  Part of it is because I am soooo over all of it.  I just want things to be finished at this point and it all looks so good.  My house feels so clean, fresh, open, inviting, and brand new :).  We are now heading towards the finishing touches.
